Types of Treatment
We offer a variety of treatment formats. Sessions may include individual therapy with the child, parent sessions, and the family together.
Individual Therapy: We treat all types of behavioral and emotional disorders and difficulties. We see toddlers through adolescents (up to age 18) in our child and therapy division. We also provide parent training and family-based therapy. Methods of treatment are personalized for every child and diagnosis or presenting problem.
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidenced-based treatment for children ages 2-8 and their parents to decrease behavioral problems and improve parent-child dynamics. We have therapists trained in PCIT. This program typically takes approximately 12 weeks.
Family Therapy: Family therapy typically involves one therapist meeting with an entire family (or several family members) to address issues that impact the whole family. Family therapy is a useful modality to help strengthen the ways in which family members relate to one another.
Frequently, parents seek out family therapy when there is parent-child conflict, when their kids are ‘out of control’, or there is immense sibling rivalry. Other times, family therapy is sought when a family’s capacity to handle life’s stressors is diminished due to difficult transitions, such as divorce, the creation of a blended family, parental deployment, the return of a parent to the workplace, job loss or a death in the family.
